When Dan and Katie Jacks discovered Berrybrook Natural Foods, they were seeking more than a business—they were seeking healing. After years of struggling with environmental illnesses and immune deficiencies, Katie found little relief through conventional medicine. Determined to take control of her health, she began researching holistic approaches, natural remedies, and organic foods. What she discovered transformed her life—and sparked a lifelong mission.

In Charlotte at the time, there were few reliable sources for high-quality supplements, natural foods, and trusted wellness products. That gap inspired the Jacks' family to make natural health more accessible to their community.

Their journey led them to Helen Woodward, who had founded Berrybrook in 1972 as Charlotte’s first natural food store. Helen was devoted to carrying only the purest products and providing genuine, personalized care to every customer. When she decided to retire, she wanted to pass her life’s work to people who would honor her legacy—not just run a store but nurture a community. Dan and Katie were the perfect fit.

Under their leadership, Berrybrook flourished. The Jacks built a team of passionate, knowledgeable employees dedicated to educating and empowering others on their wellness journeys. Over the past 40 years, Berrybrook has touched countless lives—customers often return to share how the store’s products and guidance helped restore their health or even saved a loved one’s life.

Today, as the next generation—Sarah, David, and Rebekah—takes the helm, Berrybrook remains true to its founding mission:
